Mr. Bui Phuong Nam – Director of Electricity 1 QLDA Board said: Son La E-commerce project and Lai Chau E-commerce Project are the two largest and most successful hydropower projects of Vietnam Electricity Group in nearly 20 years. These are 02 projects on the Da River hydroelectric ladder with a total capacity of 3,600MW, directly designed, constructed and operated by Vietnamese engineers and workers. By the end of November 2021, two plants had contributed 112 billion kWh of electricity.
However, in these projects, we still depend abroad for the main equipment (turbines, generators, transformers, GIS). With the requirements of energy security as well as ensuring the continuous power generation of Son La, Lai Chau; The Ministry of Industry and Trade and EVN have recognized the need to invest in 01 backup power transformer for two factories. In order to create conditions to improve the capacity of domestic production units with experience and technology equipment, the Government and the Ministry of Industry and Trade have directed EVN to implement the bidding designation mechanism for the procurement of spare transformers for Son La – Lai Chau Hydropower Plant.
The 3-phase super-high voltage power transformer with very few countries in the world has manufacturing technology. In Vietnam, Dong Anh Electrical Equipment Corporation (EEMC) is a unit that has produced 500kV transformers but is only a 1 phase transformer and a transmission transformer. However, with the trust and spirit of maximum support for the development of the domestic equipment manufacturing unit, EEMC has been selected by EVN as the supplier and installer of this spare MBA. In response to that trust, after more than 3 years of research, design and manufacturing, EEMC has succeeded in producing 500kV 3 phase power transformers with a capacity of 467MVA for the first time.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Duong Quang Thanh – Chairman of EVN Said: The successful design, fabrication and installation of the first 500kV-467MVA 3-phase source MBA in Vietnam has helped save the cost of purchasing foreign equipment, increase the efficiency of investment in projects and create a solid basis for safe operation, The stability of Son La and Lai Chau, at the same time, also marks the maturity of the domestic electrical equipment manufacturing industry and once again affirms the right policy of the Government, ministries, sectors and EVN in focusing on supporting the development of electromechanical products produced by Vietnam.
Reporting at the conference, EEMC leaders said: On November 6, 2020, the transformer was safely transported to the location of unit No. 3 of Son La Hydropower Plant. By January 14, 2021, the entire calibratation experiment has been completed so that the transformer is successfully closed on January 15, 2021.
On February 22, 2021, the transformer was loaded with 400MW of unit 3, Son La Hydropower Plant. The operating parameters when carrying full load such as oil layer temperature, wire temperature, hotspot temperature, analysis of gas content in oil at the time after 3 months of operation, 6 months of operation are satisfactory, fully meet the highest international standards currently applied in the world.
Through this project, the force of design engineers, technology and technical workers in EEMC has learned a lot of experience in management, engineering, design and manufacturing high-tech products, thereby mastering the technology equipment line, continuing to carry out research, Design and manufacture 500kV transformers including 500kV – 900MVA transformers.
