Successfully energized 250MVA 220kV transformer at Can Tho 220kV transformer station – Doubled capacity, ensuring electricity for the city and surrounding areas

At 22:47 on September 25, 2024, at the 220kV Can Tho transformer station, the Power Transmission Project Management Board (NPTPMB) successfully energized transformer T2. Transformer T2 has a capacity of 250MVA, voltage of 220/110/22kV, designed, manufactured and supervised by Dong Anh Electrical Equipment Corporation (EEMC).

The project to increase the capacity of the 220kV Can Tho transformer station is invested by the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), managed by NPTPMB, and managed by Power Transmission Company 4. The project is implemented within the premises of the 220kV Can Tho transformer station (in Thuong Thanh ward, Cai Rang district, Can Tho city).

After successfully energizing the T2 transformer, the 220kV transformer station increased its capacity from 250MVA to 500MVA, doubling the power supply capacity for the area.

Mr. Le Tuan Anh, Deputy Director of NPTPMB, shared: “The completion of the project will help reduce the load and avoid overloading of the current 220kV Can Tho transformer. At the same time, the project will also increase the 220kV supply to 110kV stations in the area, contributing to improving voltage quality and reducing losses. This will meet the load demand of Can Tho City and neighboring areas, improve the reliability of power supply, thereby supporting local socio-economic development.”
