The Tân Hiệp 110kV Substation was constructed from 2002 to 2003, with an initial installed capacity of approximately 36 MVA, tasked with supplying electricity to parts of Hóc Môn and Củ Chi districts, and especially ensuring a stable and continuous power supply to the Tân Hiệp Water Plant.

After more than 15 years of operation, the two 110kV 40MVA transformers supplied by Hyundai had aged and needed to be replaced and upgraded to meet the technical and operational standards of the substation. Therefore, the Ho Chi Minh City High-Voltage Grid Company implemented the replacement of the two old Hyundai transformers with two new 110kV 40MVA transformers manufactured by Dong Anh Electrical Equipment Corporation – Joint Stock Company (EEMC).

The project to replace the two transformers was completed on June 10, 2018, in order to celebrate Workers’ Month 2018, and to mark the 22nd anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh City High-Voltage Grid Company (01/07/1996 – 01/07/2018) and the 89th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Trade Union (28/7/1929 – 28/7/2018).
